MEET LOREN - OWNER, VOCAL COACH & SINGER

Loren's love for singing and performing has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. With her father and grandmother both passionate singers, she was on stage early, performing in productions like Annie and Oliver with the Vivienne Shelly Dance Studio at The Regent Theatre. At 13, she started taking singing lessons with a private vocal coach in Nottingham.

During high school, Loren dove into music and drama, later continuing her studies at Burslem College, known for alumni like Rachel Shenton. There, she studied Performing Arts and took part in shows like Hairspray and Meet Me in St. Louis. She then moved on to Moorlands Sixth Form, where she performed in the singing trio for Little Shop of Horrors and played Madame de Garderobe in Beauty & The Beast. Loren also auditioned for shows like The Voice, X Factor, and Jonny Wilkinson's Stoke's Top Talent.

Despite her extensive training in musical theatre, Loren's true passion was always in popular music, particularly R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Pop. She ultimately chose to focus solely on her vocal talents to study at the highly-acclaimed BIMM London (formerly Tech Music School). There, she earned a diploma in Popular Music Performance (Vocals) and a degree in Creative Musicianship, which allowed her to focus on original music and songwriting, performing as both lead vocalist & backing vocalist in various bands. At BIMM, Loren was taught by some of the UK’s top vocal coaches, including Kelly Fraser, Becky Jones, Lisa Laudat, Victy Silva, and Estelle Rubio, joining the ranks of BIMM alumni such as George Ezra, Tom Odell, James Bay, and Annabelle Williams, the vocal coach for X Factor and BGT.

With a desire to give back to her hometown of Stoke-on-Trent, Loren began offering one-on-one vocal lessons from her home studio in 2014. She later taught at Rhythm Foundry Music School for several years and worked freelance as a vocal coach at Defy Gravity Studios. After the pandemic, Loren resumed private lessons and opened The Song Loft in Hanley in 2020, located on the top floor of a building attached to Stoke's favourite music venue, The Underground on Broad Street. As her clientele grew, she expanded to a larger studio at The Production House in Tunstall, home to Reels in Motion and Six Towns Radio, where the studio is currently based.

The newly refurbished space includes a soundproof recording booth, green room, video studio, editing suite, and a nine-seat mini-cinema, along with a comfortable waiting room, kitchen and bathroom facilities. Although The Song Loft has outgrown its original "loft" setting, it now features a state-of-the-art keyboard, PA system with microphones, instruments, a stage and seating, providing an inspiring environment for students to thrive.

Since she started her studies at BIMM London, Loren has been actively performing gigs, taking the stage as both a lead singer and backing vocalist. She has performed at iconic venues like The O2 Shepherds Bush, The Blues Kitchen, and The Dublin Castle in Camden, which is famously known as Amy Winehouse's favourite pub and was the venue for her 2007 homecoming gig. Loren has also performed at the renowned Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club.

Since returning to Staffordshire, alongside teaching, Loren works as a professional singer, performing gigs up and down the UK at a variety of venues.
